Love and Grief Collide

Love and Grief Collide – A Story of Hope Through Poetry

This book comprises dreams and visions that occurred in the last two years after my husband’s transition. Throughout are emotions of peace, joy, depression, and confusion.

My hope is that as you read my book it will inspire you to focus on and believe that grief is truly a journey. The timetable is not defined but rest assured it will end.

The roadblocks that faced me, did not crush my desire.

Throughout my life, there were many people working on my behalf.  As I write my story, I am celebrating all the people who walked with me.  They were with me as I climbed the hills and lifted me out of the valleys. Without them, I could not survive or move on to the career that was my destiny.

My hope is still alive and we need each other.

Description

I did not realize who I am, until I was over fifty years old. What I learned about my family’s history came about out of the trips to South Carolina to visit relatives in my youth.  I experienced the horrors of things I did not understand, but accepted as normal.

I was ashamed of who I was, never seeing anything worthwhile in myself.  It was much too long before I realized my worth.

This occurred because so many people gave me the courage to move forth.  I call upon you to teach and make available to your children and your children’s children their history.  There is so much to learn and absorb, and I believe it will make a difference in their lives.

Most of our ancestors originated from Africa and came here on a ship, traveling for months in conditions not fit for animals. This was not by choice and many died. But those who lived were stronger than you could imagine. Not knowing they were coming here to endure the conditions of slavery. I believe we desire for our children and grandchildren to rise up and keep moving forward.

We must instill in our children early in life their potential and to go after their dreams. I have chosen to do this through my memoir. They will read about my accomplishments and failures. They will know the trials and tribulations I bore, has make me stronger.  I look back and remember my history.  This is my everlasting gift to them.

Love

In reality our names said very little about us. It may indicate the hopes and desires of parents for their children. I don’t believe our character or who we become is formed by our names.

To understand who you are, delve deep into your history.

Grief

There is comforting assurance that your road is not impassable. The darkness you encounter, does not last. It is a story of hope. My life is still progressing and yes, I am moving forward.
